When to start
Start 7–21 days before your travel date.

Complete the form on evisa.gov.vn and upload your documents; a registration code is emailed to you.
Pay online: $25 for a single-entry e-Visa or $50 for multiple entry.
Applications are processed in about 3 working days.
Use your registration code, email and date of birth to download and print the e-Visa.

Gotchas to watch
- Vietnam's e-Visa application only requires two uploads — a scan of your passport data page and a passport-style photo; everything else (addresses, entry/exit gates) is entered as form fields.
- Apply only on the official portal (evisa.gov.vn / thithucdientu.gov.vn) — many lookalike sites charge extra fees.
- An e-Visa is permission to travel, not a guarantee of entry — the border officer decides on arrival.
- Enter and exit Vietnam only through the designated international border gates listed on the portal.
