Nigerian citizens living in the United States need a visitor visa for Taiwan under the designated-countries procedure: visas are issued for specific purposes only (official invitation, international exchange events, visiting dependents, business, crew duty or medical treatment — not plain tourism), lodged after completing the online form at the R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission in the United States that serves your state of residence.

Nigeria is one of the countries whose nationals applying for R.O.C. visitor visas must fulfil a special designated-countries procedure — applications are accepted for specific purposes only and may face extra document checks.
Visitor visas under this procedure are issued for the listed purposes only: invitation by R.O.C. government agencies on official missions; participating in international meetings or religious, athletic or cultural exchange activities held by organisations in Taiwan; visiting dependents with legal residence status (spouse, lineal relatives or siblings); conducting economic or commercial business (including accompanying spouse and children); crew members reporting for duty; and medical treatment. Plain tourism is not among them.
Prepare the standard visitor-visa set — a passport valid for at least six months, a duly completed application form with two photos taken within the past six months, an outbound ticket, and documents verifying the purpose of your visit — plus anything the mission requests for your case.
Nigerian applicants must submit their visitor-visa application at the designated mission: the Taipei Trade Office in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The office reviews the documents, may interview you, and makes the final decision.
After reviewing the documents and any interview, the mission makes the final decision. Under Article 12 of the Statute Governing Issuance of ROC Visas, MOFA and the overseas missions are not required to give any reason for a refusal.

- Guarantee from your sponsor in Taiwan — For particular cases the R.O.C. overseas missions might request a Guarantee from the applicant's sponsor in Taiwan; the form is downloadable from BOCA's website free of charge. ✓ verified· Requested by the mission in particular cases (business-purpose Guarantee-of-Sponsorship rules vary)

- Visitor visas under the designated-countries procedure are issued for the listed purposes only — there is no plain tourist visa on this route.
- The overseas missions might request a Guarantee from your sponsor in Taiwan in particular cases.
- MOFA and the missions are not required to give any reason for a refusal, and the fee is not refundable.
