Visitor Visa (tourism): Sri Lankan citizen in Sri Lanka → Taiwan
Sri Lankan citizens need a visitor visa for Taiwan and are expressly eligible to apply for tourist visas: complete the online form at visawebapp.boca.gov.tw, then lodge the printed form, documents and fee at the R.O.C. overseas mission serving your place of residence.
Republic of China (Taiwan) Visitor Visa for short stays of up to six months — apply online at visawebapp.boca.gov.tw, then lodge the printed form and documents at an R.O.C. overseas mission. Sri Lankan nationals are expressly eligible for tourist visas despite the designated-country procedure.
- Validity
- Generally valid from three months up to one year (reciprocal visa agreements govern where they exist)
- Entries
- Single or multiple entry, as issued on the visa
- Max stay per visit
- 14, 30, 60 or 90 days as granted; 60- or 90-day visas without a “no extension” remark can be extended at the National Immigration Agency by up to 120 or 90 further days
When to start
Start 21–45 days before your travel date.
Sri Lanka is on the R.O.C.'s designated-countries list, whose nationals normally apply under a special procedure for specific purposes — but the official procedure expressly states that nationals of Sri Lanka are eligible to apply for tourist visas (and for business visas the missions will not request a Guarantee of Sponsorship from the sponsor in Taiwan).
Complete the visitor-visa application form online on BOCA's official portal (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw), then print it out and sign it — the printed form is lodged with your paper documents.
Assemble the tourism checklist: passport (original and photocopy) valid 6 months with blank pages, two color photos, proof of stable financial resources such as a bank statement, your travel itinerary and a return ticket.
Lodge your application with the necessary documents and the statutory fee at the R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission serving your place of residence. An interview may be required when necessary.
The mission decides at its discretion — the R.O.C. can refuse a visa without providing an explanation, and the application fee is not refundable. Once issued, check the visa's validity, duration of stay and entries before you travel.

Gotchas to watch
- Sri Lanka is on the designated-countries list: expect extra scrutiny, and note that missions can request a Guarantee from a sponsor in Taiwan in particular cases.
- Visas can be refused without explanation and the application fee is not refundable — the official rules state no reason need be given.
- An interview may be required when the mission considers it necessary.
