Canadian citizens can apply for Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) — a 5-year, multiple-entry digital-nomad visa — at a Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate or on the Thai e-Visa website, showing remote-work proof and at least 500,000 THB in savings.

When to start
Start 15–30 days before your travel date.
Assemble your passport, photo, completed application form, a 3-month bank statement showing at least 500,000 THB, 6 months of income proof, and remote-work evidence (employment contract + company registration, or a freelance portfolio).
Complete the DTV application form and submit it with your documents, either at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate covering where you live or online via the Thai e-Visa website. You cannot apply for the DTV from inside Thailand.
Pay the DTV fee — 400 USD (some missions charge a local-currency equivalent such as 350 EUR or £300).
Wait for the embassy to process your application. Incomplete or unauthenticated documents will delay the visa processing time.
What you'll need
- Original passport — Your original passport, valid for at least 6 months from the travel date. ✓ verified

- Visa application form — A completed DTV visa application form. ✓ verified
- Bank statement (≥500,000 THB) — A bank statement for the last 3 months with an ending balance of at least 500,000 THB (≈US$14,000–16,000). ✓ verified
- Proof of income — Salary slips or proof of monthly income for the last 6 months. ✓ verified
- Employment contract / certificate — A foreign employment contract or employment certificate, authenticated by the embassy of the country where the company is located (employed remote workers). ✓ verified·
- Company registration — A copy of the company's registration / business license, authenticated by the embassy of the country where the company is located. ✓ verified·
- Proof of residence — Evidence of prolonged residence in Thailand for at least 6 months, e.g. a condominium rental or lease agreement. ✓ verified

Gotchas to watch
- You cannot apply for the DTV from inside Thailand — apply from a country where you legally reside.
- Documents issued outside Thailand usually need authentication/legalisation by the relevant embassy before submission.
- Each Thai mission may ask for more than the 500,000 THB minimum or extra evidence — confirm with your local embassy.
