When to start
Start 1–14 days before your travel date.
On the official MFA visa-regime table, Turkey appears as visa-free for ordinary ("N") passports — so no visa is needed in advance for a short visit. Kazakhstan's visa-free regime covers tourist, guest and business purposes.
Ordinary-passport holders of Turkey may stay visa-free up to 90 days per visit under the official visa-regime table. For a longer stay you would need an e-Visa or a consular visa.
You receive your visa-free entry stamp on arrival — a valid passport is all you need to cross. After arrival, your receiving party (host, hotel or inviting company) must notify the Migration Service; this can be done online via the Visa and Migration Portal (vmp.gov.kz).
What you'll need
- Valid passport — A passport valid for the whole of your stay, with clean pages for the entry stamp. Kazakhstan's own passport rules require at least 2 clean pages and validity that does not expire earlier than 3 months from the date the requested stay ends. ✓ verified
- Proof of your visit purpose and onward plans — Border officers may ask for evidence of a tourist, guest or business purpose — e.g. a hotel booking, a host's address, a return or onward ticket. Kazakhstan's visa-free regime is for tourist, guest and business purposes only, not paid work. ✓ verified·
- Host / accommodation details for migration registration — The address and details of the person or hotel hosting you, so they can notify the Migration Service within three working days of your arrival (done online via vmp.gov.kz or eQonaq, or by the hotel automatically). ✓ verified
Where you'll apply
No visa to apply for in advance: you enter visa-free and receive your stay on arrival. There is no visa centre — just make sure your host registers you with the Migration Service within 3 working days.

Gotchas to watch
- Under Kazakhstan's visa-free rules the total stay must not exceed 90 calendar days in any 180-day period (and no more than 120 days in a calendar year) — for a longer stay, apply for a relevant visa.
- Visa-free entry is for tourism, guest visits and business meetings — not paid employment, which requires a work visa and permit.
- Your receiving party must register your arrival with the Migration Service within 3 working days; hotels usually do this automatically, but a private host must file the notification (online via vmp.gov.kz or eQonaq).
- The visa-free term differs by passport type (diplomatic / service / ordinary) — this guide covers ordinary passports; confirm your exact passport on the official MFA visa-regime table before you travel.
