Under Ordinance №255 of the Government of Georgia, Russian citizens (and stateless persons permanently residing in the Russian Federation) may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 1 (one) full year — no application, fee or registration before travel.
Since 1 January 2026 every tourist entering Georgia must hold a valid health and accident insurance policy (at least 30,000 GEL, in Georgian or English, covering the whole stay). Entry can also be refused without sufficient funds for your stay and return.
You enter through a border checkpoint with your valid travel document and request permission from the Border Police — they make the final decision on admission and the period of stay.
