Good news — no visa needed for short stays
United Kingdom passport holders can visit Finland — and the whole Schengen area — without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
The bottom line
- The 90 days count across ALL Schengen countries combined, not per country — track them with the EU's short-stay calculator.
- Since 2026-04-10 the biometric Entry/Exit System (EES) registers your entry and exit instead of passport stamps — first crossing takes a few extra minutes for fingerprints and a photo.
- ETIAS (a €20 online travel authorisation, like the US ESTA — free for under-18s and over-70s, valid 3 years) is expected Q4 2026 — not yet required. Once live you'll need it before boarding; until then your passport alone is enough.
- Your passport must be valid for 3 months beyond your departure date and issued within the last 10 years.

Good to know
- One visa covers all 29 countries — but you must apply through the country of your MAIN destination (longest stay), not whichever consulate is fastest.
- Multiple-entry visas with 1–5 year validity can be granted to travellers with a positive visa history.
