When to start
Start 14–45 days before your travel date.
If you hold a valid US, Canada, Japan, UK or Schengen visa or permanent residence, you do NOT need a Mexican visa — you can travel visa-free.
Schedule an appointment at the Mexican consulate before applying — the visa cannot be issued inside Mexico.
Prepare your passport, a 2x2 photo, the signed application form, proof of economic solvency and your appointment confirmation.
Submit your documents in person; approval is subject to an interview and the Consul's decision.
The visitor visa is normally issued the same day once your documentation is complete; it is a sticker placed in your passport.
