Visit (visa exemption): Malaysian citizen in Malaysia → Mexico

When to start
Start 1–14 days before your travel date.
Malaysia is on Mexico's official consular list of nationalities whose ordinary-passport holders are exempt from a visa (EXENTO), so no visa is needed for a short visit as a visitor without paid activities.
The exemption applies to the visitor condition without permission to carry out paid activities, when the stay is under 180 days — for example tourism, transit, business or studies.
At the immigration checkpoint you present your valid passport (and a completed FMM form for land entries only — at international airports no paper FMM is needed); the officer may also ask for evidence of your trip, such as hotel reservations and return tickets.

Gotchas to watch
- Visa-free entry is as a visitor WITHOUT permission to carry out paid activities — no paid work, and the stay must be under 180 days.
- Admission and the length of stay granted are decided by the immigration officer at the checkpoint — the exemption is not a guarantee of entry, and the officer may ask for hotel reservations and return tickets.
- Entering by land you must present a duly completed FMM form; at international airports no paper FMM is needed. Mexico's exemption list can change — confirm Malaysia is still listed on the official INM page before travelling.
