The official Bahrain national portal states that all visitors need a visa except GCC citizens (Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates). British passport holders are not exempt, so an entry visa is required — the standard route is the official eVisa platform.
A dedicated 3-month visit eVisa is issued to nationals of Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States of America (24 BD). You can also use the standard two-week single-entry eVisa (9 BD + 4 BD) or the 1-year multiple-entry eVisa (44 BD).
Complete the application on the official Bahrain eVisa platform (evisa.gov.bh) and upload a copy of your passport, a hotel reservation, a return ticket and a three-month bank statement. No embassy or visa-centre visit is needed.
Pay online when you apply. The 3-month eVisa for Canadian, British, Irish and US nationals is 24 BD; the standard two-week single-entry eVisa is 9 BD (+4 BD application fee) and the 1-year multiple-entry eVisa is 44 BD.
Applications are processed after a security check by the Ministry of Interior — Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, with a decision in 3–5 working days.
Once approved, the eVisa is issued to you; carry the printed eVisa and your supporting documents when you travel. The eVisa is not a guarantee of entry — immigration makes the final decision at the border.
