Indian citizens living in the United States need a Schengen short-stay visa for France — apply at the France visa application centre in the United States and give biometrics.

- The consulate decides how long it lasts. A first or occasional visa usually just covers your trip; the more you travel (with a clean record), the longer a multiple-entry visa you can get — up to 5 years (the EU visa cascade).

Submit at least 15 days before travel and no earlier than 6 months beforehand.
The Schengen visa fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6–12; a separate service fee applies.
Applications submitted in the US are decided only by the French Consulate in Washington DC (TLScontact runs intake).
You can book an appointment at any of the 11 centres in the US regardless of your location.
Attend the visa application centre in person to give your fingerprints and have your photo taken. Some categories of applicant are exempt.
Standard processing is about 15 days, extendable to up to 45 days if a closer look or extra documents are needed.

- Supporting documents — Evidence of the purpose of your stay, your financial means, accommodation, and your intention to return home after the stay. ✓ 確認済み
- Proof of legal residence — As a general rule you must apply where you are legally resident, so include proof of your legal residence (e.g. residence permit or valid visa). ✓ 確認済み

- 人気のある領事館（大都市のフランス・イタリア・スペインなど）では、新しい枠が数分でなくなることがあります。事前に登録・ログインした状態で確認してください。
- キャンセルにより日中も枠が空くことがあるため、「空きなし」と表示されていても毎日確認してください。
- できるだけ早く申請してください。出発の最大6か月前から申請可能です。1〜2か月前まで待つと、枠がまったく残っていないことがほとんどです。
